We end the week with a reminder that Elly spends most of the next two weeks assuming that Mike will die in a fire because she's not there to do the thing she never does in the first place called "watching over him."

(Strip Number 655, Original Publication Date, 14 July 1984)

Panel 1: As the rest of the family has drive home from dropping Michael off at the airport, John tells Elly to stop fidgeting because Mike will be fine.

Panel 2: He then reminds her that Mike has books and toys and will get lots of attention.

Panel 3: As he turns on the car radio, he assures her that there is nothing to worry about.

Panel 4: Just then, they're gobsmacked by the fact that the news is on and they're talking about an investigation into a fatal plane crash.

Summary: As I said, Elly is going to spend the next few weeks worried about the plane crashing into the ground. This is because she's worried that the authorities will release a report calling her a negligent parent who's too fragile to cope with a good kid.
