(Strip Number 639, Original Publication Date, 25 June 1984)
Panel 1: Later that day, we find John and Elly talking about Mike's angry reaction to being treated like a hindrance. Elly tells John "So, Michael told you that he didn't like me working, did he? John, we've been all through this!!"
Panel 2: She raises the Angry Finger of Making Her Point when she says "Lizzie is at play-care and Mike is at school! Why I should stay home when everyone else is away?!"
Panel 3: She gets really pissed off and yells "WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO ALL DAY?!?! BAKE COOKIES??!!!! DUST ARMCHAIRS?!?!?!"
Panel 4: As she gets angrier and angrier and probably starts ranting about how Mike owes her some free time because of all the discomfort she went through carrying him, John regrets telling her how Michael feels and thought-bubbles "From now on, Michael fights his OWN battles."
Summary: Elly seems to have forgotten that Mike has summer vacation soon. This, I think, is why John comes up with the idea of shipping him off to Vancouver; since he wants peace in his home and knows that Elly isn't going to ever discuss things like a rational, civilized human being, the best thing for everyone is to separate the squabbling children to neutral corners until they calm down.
