(Strip Number 7161, Original Publication Date, 10 June 1984)
Panel 1: We find ourselves at the not-aerobics course looking at Elly and Connie gasping for breath after a session of unbelievable torture and totally not a mild workout. (Also, it's not that they're sedentary people fool-hardy enough to think that they can go from mild activity to a more taxing workout regimen without paying a cost.)
Panel 2: A grim Connie tells Elly "Up and at'em."
Panel 3: Elly and Connie jog the impossible distance of about a hundred yards.
Panel 4: We next see them doing leg lifts as the instructor barks orders at them.
Panel 5: Next on the agenda is an upper-body workout. Having noticed what they're doing, Connie asks a sweaty, gasping Elly if she remembers this exercise.
Panel 6: She chants the familiar phrase "We must, we must, we must improve our bust!!"
Panel 7: As they wheeze their way down the track, Elly says "Yeah! Good ol'High School!"
Panel 8: She makes a morose comment about how things used to be simpler back then.
Panel 9: That's because they have to improve everything now.
Summary: It's strips like this that make me think that it would probably be as likely to kill Elly/Lynn to have a good word for getting in shape as saying anything positive about herself would.
