In today's strip, Elly is happy that things are back to normal so she can sit in another room while her children fight.

(Strip Number 627, Original Publication Date, 8 June 1984)

Panel 1: We start things off with Mike looking out the living room window and happily announcing that Elly and Elizabeth have returned from the hospital.

Panel 2: A concerned-looking John asks Elly if she is really all right.

Panel 3: From off-camera, we hear Mike yell "Cut it out! Gimme that! MOM! Lizzie's bugging me!!" because Lizzie latched onto one of his toys again. (At least she didn't grab onto his schwanz like in the 'separate baths' strip.)

Panel 4: Elly smiles and says "Right back to normal!" because she thinks that children have to fight like rats in a cage.

Summary: Another thing that's returning to normal is Elly's inability to concern herself with what the children think and feel. We'll see that come into play when Mike rebels against her constant yanging about how he's a parasite who eats her sense of fulfillment.
