Today's strip is brought to you by Lynn's distorted self-image; this is because Elly donates the bikinis she was too self-conscious to ever wear to the Sally Ann.

(Strip Number 7160, Original Publication Date, 3 June 1984)

Panel 1: We find ourselves looking at Elly cleaning out her closet. As she does so, Elizabeth holds up a red bikini and asks Elly what kind of bathing suit it is.

Panel 2: A peeved-looking Elly tells her that it's an antique.

Panel 3: Elly tries on the red bikini and thought-bubbles that she can't believe that she ever wore it in public.

Panel 4: She then tries on another and reminds herself that she hasn't worn it in years.

Panel 5: We next see her walking to the car with a box; John, who's sweeping up the yard, asks her what's in it.

Panel 6: She tells him that it's just some summer clothes she was going to give to the Salvation Army.

Panel 7: After she leaves, John tells Steve that he and Elly are now officially a middle-aged couple.

Panel 8: The reason he says this is that Elly just threw out her bikinis.

Summary: It probably wouldn't comfort him to know that she would have done so years ago; after all, you can't read the Lynnsight we're in for about how Lynn only ever owned one of the things and was too blasted self-conscious to feel comfortable wearing it and not realize that she'd have tossed them at least one child ago.
