Panel 1: Jeez, what limp wrists. And I guess the agitation is supposed to indicate that he's being driven by the muse or something.

Panel 2: Ah, I see it already. He won't notice Deanna standing there.

Panel 3: Or Robin.

Panel 4: Silly Deanna! You know your genius husband doesn't have time for silly questions!

Panel 5: Ooh, now she's being all presumptuous, thinking she deserves a response.

Panel 6: Oh, this is so funny!

Panel 7: Y'know, you'd think he would listen to that; it would inspire another column, right?

Panel 8: Oh, come on. Nobody has THAT much concentration. Now he's actively ignoring her.

Panel 9: Or how about, go ahead and eat without him, and when he shows up, tell him you assumed he didn't want any.

Panel 10: Cripes. I want to shake that affectionate look right off her face.

This strip reminds me so strongly of that thread on r.a.c.s., back in January during the Mira-and-Wilf-cabbage-rolls-and-TV sequence. Mike Peterson was being a total ass, worse than Mike Patterson, just excoriating Deanna. She wanted her husband to come downstairs and have dinner with her parents, and [gasp!] spend time with them afterwards, and from this, Peterson got that Deanna a) didn't care that Mike was a writer b) wanted to mold him in her image of the ideal, spineless mate c) was going to keep chipping away at him until he gave up writing entirely d) thought the world revolved around her and e) didn't understand that writers have to write 24/7 or they'll never work again. I don't know where he got all that from and I still don't. If he starts a thread on this strip, though, I'm ready for him.
