We begin the week with a strip that Lynn states is a tribute to (but reads like a slam against) Alan's proficiency with a wok. Simply put, he isn't thinking about the kids because all they get is yucky vegetables.

(Strip Number 599, Original Publication Date, 23 April 1984)

Panel 1: As Elly gets the kids ready to go out to dinner at Uncle Phil's, Mike asks howcome they gotta go there.

Panel 2: Elly poses like she's in a soap when she tells Mike that Phil has a new wok and wants to show it off. Mike mutters "Oh" in resignation.

Panel 3: Elizabeth asks Michael what "wok" means.

Panel 4: Michael tells her it's another word for vegetables.

Summary: As I said, Lynn pays Alan a very left-handed compliment about his skills cooking and habit of eating strange, non-British, non-arteriosclerosis-inducing (and thus evil) foods.
