In today's strip, we see the end result of Elly's thinking that Mike magically knows what to do despite never having been told what to do if he's locked out: a traumatized little boy standing out in the cold wondering what kept her.
(Strip Number 548, Original Publication Date, 10 February 1984)
Panel 1: We find ourselves at Lizzie's daycare; as Elly rushes to the car, she Oh, dears Lizzie and tells us that since she's running late, Mike is locked out.
Panel 2: She thanks God that Mike has enough common sense to go to a neighbor's house until she gets home.
Panel 3: As she pulls up to the house, she finds Mike standing there shivering and asking her where she was.
Summary: Tomorrow's strip has her blame his dislike for this sort of situation on a need to make her smile, bake cookies, dust armchairs and not lock him out in the cold.
