In today's strip, Elly angrily tells John about Ted's unsubtle means of telling her to bog off already. John doesn't much care for them either but will acknowledge their effectiveness.

(Strip Number 4407, Original Publication Date 27 January 1984)

Panel 1: We start things off with John and Farley being startled by a slamming door; John thought-bubbles "HARK! The light of my life returneth!"

Panel 2: The light of John's life telleth him that she was right in the middle of a conversation with Connie when Ted yawned and asked her when she was going home.

Panel 3: She then tells John "Y'know what I did? I got up, put my coat on and left, THAT'S what I did."

Panel 4: As she storms off to bellow at something or other, John tells Farley that Ted's methods always were crass but effective.

Summary: First off, Elly's storming off in a huff is probably what Ted wanted to happen. Second, we have no idea what the conversation was about. Third, we're in for a Lynnsight that denies that there used to be a real Ted and insists that Lynn didn't resent the fact that this totally-made up person wasn't run out of Lynn Lake on a rail, no way, not her.
