(Strip Number 541, Original Publication Date, 25 January 1984)
Panel 1: As they put their shoes on, Connie reminds Elly that they've been exercising for three weeks now and asks if she notices any difference.
Panel 2: Elly smiles and pats her hips as she starts to say that she's lost a little weight around her bottom; too bad that she stalls out in mid-gloat.
Panel 3: Noticing that Elly is angrily pulling things out of her jeans pockets, Connie asks the Patterson what it's got in its pocketses. Instead of the One Ring To Rule The Others, the Patterson has a coupla wadded-up Kleenexes.
Panel 4: She tells Connie that she thought they were hips.
Summary: While I do sympathize with Elly's wishing that she could be slim and young and beautiful again, what I find hard to relate to is her never quite admitting that she was never happy with what she sees in the mirror.
