The next part of the aerobics class arc has Connie get somewhat cynical as to what the adjective 'basic' means; in short, she's verbalizing the body image issues that propel this arc forward.

(Strip Number 532, Original Publication Date, 3 January 1984)

Panel 1: As our story continues, we find Elly and Connie having a cup of coffee; Elly tells her that her resolution for the year is to lose weight.

Panel 2: Connie enthusiastically suggests that the two of them join an aerobics class together.

Panel 3: She then consults the business directory of her phone book (Wow. This sure is 2013) and finds a class they can join. She says it's perfect because they have advanced, intermediate, beginners' and basic courses. Elly asks her what 'basic' means.

Panel 4: Connie smiles and says that it's a nice word for 'flabbo'.

Summary: It's a good thing that this is also the month where Elly gets that job at the library; otherwise, we'd be spending all month watching Elly be ashamed of her body.
