(Strip Number 7146, Original Publication Date, 13 November 1983)
Panel 1: We find the Pattersons walking around a local park on a pleasant mid-autumn day; John delights at the clean, crisp early November air and the brilliantly coloured leaves and Elly says that it's an absolutely perfect day for a walk.
Panel 2: Since Lizzie is kinda low to the ground and kinda doesn't realize that she weighs a lot and kinda wants to see what Mommy is talking about, she asks to be carried.
Panel 3: The strip most people will actually see starts off with Lizzie playing in the leaves and Michael watching John and Elly walk arm in arm up the path.
Panel 4: He motions to Lizzie to be silent about the gross-out kissing Mommy and Daddy are doing.
Panel 5: John notices that Mike and Lizzie are staring at him and Elly as if they're clubbing seals.
Panel 6: He then asks if there's something wrong with his kissing Elly on a beautiful autumn day. Mike says that he guesses that there isn't anything wrong.
Panel 7: He then asks "But d'you hafta do it in PUBLIC??"
Summary: Well, this isn't exactly the freshest gag. Heck, Ketcham allowed as how he lifted it off of someone else. Thing is that stale jokes like this work for a reason. I just wish that the Lynnsight wasn't going to make it not work.
