In today's installment of "Who wants to act like a bra-snapping fratboy?", John's managing to scare a Mrs Nedwitt leads to Elly making an insensitive comment about the woman's looks.

(Strip Number 4382, Original Publication Date, 27 October 1983)

Panel 1: We find ourselves looking at Steve and Count Foobula playing piggy-back; as John leans into the window, his fellow gutter-dwelling adolescent imbecile wants to make sure that he's physically steady before advising him to leer once through the window and not let himself be seen too clearly.

Panel 2: We shift focus to inside wherein one of the guests screams in terror after looking at the terrifying spectacle of what she believes to be an unholy creature of the night. Were she to realize that it's simply the depressingly mundane creature known as an adolescent clod with too much time on his hands, she'd actually have something worth screaming about.

Panel 3: In any event, an extremely upset Anne tells Elly that the woman (a Mrs Nedwitt by name) saw a terrifying face in the window.

Panel 4: Elly stage-whispers "Are you sure it wasn't her reflection?" while the woman is in the background glaring at us.

Summary: My guess is that she's probably about to say "You know I can hear you, right?" It's not cool to make light of other people's misery and confusion like this....which is something that John will be reminded in the synchronizing new-ruin.
