In today's strip, Elly whines piteously because Lizzie wrecked her stuff only to get blindsided when the small one repeats a rather demeaning comment that tells us what John really thinks of the kids. Look for Rod to get a scraping in the Lynnsight.

(Strip Number 4378, Original Publication Date, 8 October 1983)

Panel 1: We start things off with Elly freaking out because Lizzie, having not been careful with the nail polish she used, left it all over the sink. Lizzie explains that it was a accident.

Panel 2: Elly then whines because Lizzie broke her new lipstick in half. Again, Lizzie calls it a accident.

Panel 3: Elly sets up the punchline by yelling "KIDS!!! Why did I ever have KIDS?!"

Panel 4: Lizzie's telling Elly that Daddy said it was a accident leaves our hero gobsmacked.

Summary: He could have put it in terms that were less cynical and perhaps allowed as how the children weren't a complete burden but the Straw Chauvinist Ogre has something of a point. After all, not a one of the children were planned at all.
