We begin this year's Halloween arc with Lizzie playing dress-up, John playing the fool and Elly playing the martyr.

(Strip Number 475, Original Publication Date, 6 October 1983)

Panel 1: We start with Lizzie walking down the hall after having raided Elly's closet; she clumps along with her skirt hitched up and her face made up.

Panel 2: She then tells John "Look, Daddy! I got Mommy's dress on an'her make-up an'her shoes!!"

Panel 3: She then asks him if she can go out on Halloween like that. He says "Why not?"

Panel 4: As he says "If it's good enough for your mother...", Elly overhears him and is traumatized.

Summary: Ho-hum. Yet another strip where Elly stands around like a lump while John disses her with impunity. It's things like this that make me want to see a new-ruin wherein she calls him on his default wiseassery.
