In today's strip, we get exposed to another truth. That's because John gets Mike to do homework that he doesn't want to do by implying that he'll solve the problem the same way he did when he caught Mike hitting somebody.

(Strip Number 461, Original Publication Date, 8 September 1983)

Panel 1: As John dries dishes incorrectly, he asks Mike (who's reading a comic book) if he's done his homework. Mike asks him "What homework?"

Panel 2: John reminds him that he brought books home from school so must have work to do.

Panel 3: Mike says that he doesn't hafta do it unless he wants to.

Panel 4: Since John has turned the same magenta Sinestro is and his eyes are bulged out in rage, Mike suddenly decides that he wants to do homework.

Summary: How very odd that twenty-four and a half years later, he'd be just as eager to stop someone from doing her homework. In case that looks ironic, it isn't. He wants unquestioning obedience at home because he confuses having to deal with the same disappointments everyone else has to deal with with being unmanned. As josephusrex said, the man is an super-creep.
