(Strip Number 448, Original Publication Date, 11 August 1983)
Panel 1: As Elly takes the purloined kitten away from a howling Lizzie and hands it back to Bev, Mike asks why they can't take it back home with them.
Panel 2: He promises her that he and Lizzie would feed it and clean its box and look after it forever.
Panel 3: Elly says "Sorry, but no"; this makes Mike ask howcome (the space will be added in the editing process) and Lizzie ask why.
Panel 4: The 'why' is that the last promise like that she got only lasted two days.
Summary: She is, of course, talking about Farley. It sort of bothers her that the pet John supposedly got to teach Mike responsibility ended up being what Connie predicted it would be: a means of chaining her to the house. That being said, is it ridiculously unfair to blame children for behaving like children? Yes. Does Elly see that. Eeeenope. Will KAN see this? All signs point to 'No'.
