In today's strip, Elly angsts about how unfair it is that pigs have an easier time giving birth than human beings. This somehow astonishes Danny.

(Strip Number 4351, Original Publication Date, 28 July 1983)

Panel 1: As the sow gives birth, an astonished Elly says "Oh, my gosh! There's the first baby pig already!"

Panel 2: She then asks "Just like THAT? The sow feels a contraction, she lies down and POP!!, a baby is born?"

Panel 3: Danny confirms that that's all there is too it.

Panel 4: He then stands there with a puzzled look on his face because his brother-in-law's wife complains about how not fair it is.

Summary: This is owing to his not quite realizing who he's dealing with. A man who knew her better would realize that she uses the discomfort of bringing her children into the world as a bludgeon to beat them and John over the head with when they displease her.
