Panel 1: Well, that was fast. One strip and the issue of race relations has been fully resolved for all time. Lynn, I don't know how you do it.
Anyway. So looks like we're going to get a new character. Why, for cripe's sake? What can she contribute and how can she be developed? And oh boy, a whole day's notice! Thanks, Gary!
Panel 2: Okay, so apparently she'll just be passing through. Still don't see why, though, unless she's supposed to be a rival for Liz. And it kills me how Liz always squees with delight when someone asks her to do something. Not that she's in a position to say no, of course, but there's never any, "Okay, but I'm gonna have to..." or "Okay, but should I..." Just "I aim to please; I'm pleased to aim!"
Panel 3: Who the heck drew Liz's slacks? All of a sudden they're harem pants.
Panel 4: And what the heck is that supposed to mean? Is Gary apprehensive that Paul will steal away the always-helpful Liz and they'll have to find a new Open-Minded White Girl From the South? That's all I can come up with. And as Gary turns stoically away from Liz's provocative hip thrust, he looks like Frankie Valli.
