If Jobsworth really is being theatrical, his shtick is lost on the Pattersons who look for all the world as if all the world is looking at them in disgust and contempt. If he's not, he's sort of let his badge go to his head, don't you think?

(Strip Number 436, Original Publication Date, 7 July 1983)

Panel 1: Jobsworth is grim-faced and angry as he informs Mike that it's illegal to bring a weapon on a commercial aircraft, real or fake.

Panel 2: As the Pattersons look on in horror, the man bellows "Move aside" to the crowd as he has the Patterluggage hauled aside for a thorough examination.

Panel 3: Possibly responding to something Elly said in between panels or possibly because he's as mortified as everyone else, Mike asks John if it's really possible to die of embarrassment.

Summary: This sort of hints that he might be taking his job a bit too seriously and has embarked upon the folly of messing the Pattersons' travel plans up because he had a minor shock. Given the world we live in, we simply have to accept people like him as part of the cost of doing business so getting angry at the kids doesn't help, JOHN!!!!
