As they board Farley in the not-actually-God-awful kennel, John tells the rest of the family that the accommodations remind him of a motel outside of Halifax that he and Elly once stayed in.

(Strip Number 4340. Original Publication Date, 1 July 1983)

Panel 1: We find the family at the Klaumar Kennels; Elly tells a reluctant Michael that the staff will take very good care of Farley.

Panel 2: As they look in on him, Elly tells Michael that Farley has a nice room.

Panel 3: She goes on to say that it's comfortable, has a soft bed and running water.

Panel 4: John looks at the rather spartan setting and says that it reminds him of a motel outside of Halifax where he and Elly once stayed.

Summary: First off, she should have told Mike this beforehand so as to save herself some trouble. Second, comparing inns in the Halifax area to kennels got Lynn into a bit of trouble with the locals.
