(Strip Number 7136, Original Publication Date, 5 June 1983)
Panel 1: John hums to himself as he puts on a rather garish dress shirt.
Panel 2: He then thought-bubbles "Et voila!!" as he ties a brightly-colored neck tie.
Panel 3: He glugs down a cup of coffee....
Panel 4: ...buttons up a tweed jacket...
Panel 5: ...and kisses a mortified Elly on the cheek as he heads out to go to work.
Panel 6: Before he can head out the door, Elly yells WAIT!!!! off-camera.
Panel 7: She tells him that he can't wear that shirt and suit together and asks where he got that tie.
Panel 8: As she forces him into a plain white shirt and black neck-tie, she says "Now, you look presentable." (This translates into "Now, people will think that my opinion matters.")
Panel 9: For some reason, he's at a meeting with Ted and a bunch of other drones in blue suits. Ted tells him that he does know that he's a bit late for it. John knows this.
Panel 10: His problem is that he didn't pass dress inspection.
Summary: His real problem is that he might be mildly color-blind. Not that Elly would get that. She assumes that he picks out the clothes he does to torment her. Then again, if she did find out that he was color-blind, she'd assume that he deliberately decided to be color-blind to torment her.
