In today's strip, Lynn uses one of her favorite little punchlines in an attempt to garner sympathy from the ranks of Kool-Aid Nation. That's because we are once again reminded that Elly has never been allowed to not work her ass off on a holiday.

(Strip Number 382, Original Publication Date, 30 March 1983)

Panel 1: As Elly takes a roast out of the oven, she has to listen to Mike say "Boy, it sure is time we had another holiday."

Panel 2: As she dusts a book-shelf, he complains about how Christmas seems like it was a hunnert years ago.

Panel 3: As she's down on her hands and needs scrubbing the floor, he asks "Know the best thing about holidays, Mom?"

Panel 4: As she groans under the weight of her fifth load of laundry for the day, he gushes "Nobody has to work!!"

Summary: Let's play martyrdom bingo, gang! We can cross off "Elly is treated like she's nobody", "Nobody appreciates her sacrifices", "She's never allowed to rest", and "Mike callously refuses to speak 'correct' English" and "We get to read a lot of whiny nonsense from other busy mothers with nooooooooooooo help and nooooooooooo time to themselves."
