The FBorFW Newsletter for April 2012

I'm posting the text of this month's newsletter for your reading pleasure.

April has arrived!
There's some green appearing in our gardens, and we're really happy about it despite a somewhat confusing 50-degree fluctuation in temperatures so far this spring. We don't know whether to break out the shorts or the snowpants, but we're happy to see our tulips again.

We're celebrating April with a deal - use the coupon code SPLASH for 6% off orders over $10 from our store. Make sure to watch the slideshow on the front page of the store for coupon codes or any other discounts we're currently offering! We change our specials on a monthly basis too!

A note from Lynn:
I stood out on the rock at the foot of my garden today and listened to the rumbling of the ice breaking up across the lake. It sounds unlike anything you've ever heard; unearthly, haunting, strange. Some cracks came visibly towards me, sounding like a gun shot or a tightly strung wire being cut. Others echoed in the coves and landings miles away with a hollow swissshhhh; like wire brushes on cymbals followed by kettle drums and chimes. You need the ice to be thin and a strong wind to be blowing for this phenomenon to occur. Today is one of those days.

It's cold but beautiful and when nature is making her presence known in such a spectacular way, I can see how the ancients must have believed there were spirits living under the ice. So many great stories must have been told at this time of year, as the thunderous cracking sounds echo around us all night long. If I was feeling tired and a bit gloomy this morning, I am now in awe and filled with gratitude for having had the privilege of hearing the lake breaking and watching the returning geese overhead. We often complain about winter, but I wouldn't trade the miracle of the changing seasons for a tropical climate. Ever!
Lynn J.

Want to see all the historical FBorFW strips for April 1st? Check them out here. You can read 30 years of Easter strips here as well.

In honour of April Fool's Day, here's April's Expanded Character Page, where you can read more about the late addition to the Patterson family. If the strip had continued, April would have turned 21 this year!

Last month we gave away a small heap of prizes on our Facebook page. If you haven't "Liked" our page, you're missing out on lots of opportunities to win stuff!

"Farley and the Last Bone" is now available as an enhanced iBook for iPads and other newer Apple devices. It contains animations; Lynn recorded the narration in February. Visit our News Bites page here for a link to the iTunes store where you can preview or purchase this iBook and find out more about the Farley Follows His Nose audiobook, also available from the iTunes shop.

Kevin has just finished the cover for the 3rd Treasury. You can take a look here.

The art is also ready for the 2013 wall calendar, titled Feud For Thought.

Lynn's friend and colleague, Rick Stromoski, contributed one of his Mullets strips to our "Joke's On Us!" page, which is where we put all the strips that make fun of, or reference FBorFW. If you know of any more (clean) examples, please let us know.

Lynn, Katie, Lane, and baby Laura just spent a couple weeks on vacation in Cabo. Our studio photo for this month is a shot of the youngest globetrotter in the family enjoying her travels with her Grandma.

Lynn will be a special guest this year at the San Diego International Comic Con. The con runs from July 12-15 and will be hosting plenty of talented artists.

We are having a Farley golf club cover made. Last month, we reported that we were having trouble getting the fur quite the right colour, but that glitch has been sorted out, and we're expecting the shipment soon. We'll keep you in the loop!

We keep getting asked "How do I get FBorFW by email?" Universal Uclick offers two types of accounts on GoComics.com - paid (Genius) and free - and both allow you to get comics by email. Sign up for your free account here. You can also learn more about the difference between services and upgrade to Genius level if you wish.

This month's challenge: tell us which two people in FBorFW would make a good couple! We tried this one on Facebook and got some interesting responses. We'll choose one winner to receive a FBorFW prize pack!
