Since the strip that would have immediately followed Elly going apewire at the kids because she was too negligent to ask where they were had Elly angst about how awful it was that three year olds didn't have the focus or manual dexterity of adults, I'm assuming that today's strip has John marvel that Connie would want to marry a boorish pinhead like Ted.

(Strip Number 6012, Original Publication Date, 4 April 1983)

Panel 1: We find ourselves at the local pub watching John and Ted tip back a couple of beers. An exasperated Ted bitterly makes the "I've had it up to here" gesture as he's had it up to here with the irritating behavior of women.

Panel 2: It would seem that what set him off is Connie's constant talking up of the marriage that would not only 'confine' him but would also keep him from taking care of the mother that doesn't actually want to be taken care of, thank you very much.

Panel 3: John's silhouette wants Ted's silhouette to confirm that Connie wants to marry him as opposed to all the other men she could potentially marry that aren't straw man chauvinists that were designed by Lynn to avenge herself on men who didn't want to marry a vengeful nincompoop with delusions of grandeur. Ted says that yes, she does want to marry him.

Panel 4: John tells a gobsmacked Ted that that is hard to believe.

Summary: The notes for this week in the book tend to be self-congratulatory nonsense about how great it was that Lynn came up with a straw man like Ted to focus rage on. What they don't address is why Lynn needs to rage on at all.
