Panel 1: As they try to make sense of the horribly disorganized way they keep their financial records, a panicked Elly tells John that she has no idea how many times she used his car for non-business purposes.
Panel 2: His pissed-off silhouette bellows that he had a whole envelope full of hotel receipts but cannot now find them. The clear implication is that if Elly doesn't immediately produce them, he's gonna smack her around.
Panel 3: Since Mike and Lizzie are in their jammies, it's obvious that they're probably been woken up by the rapid-fire accusations downstairs and are wondering what Mommy and Daddy are bellowing about this time. A wary Mike tells Lizzie that it's THAT time of year again.
Panel 4: As his parents trade accusations, Mike tells Lizzie not to go into the kitchen where the wild animals are unless she absolutely has to.
Summary: Since John is stupid and useless enough to think that a man who barely passed math should do his own taxes, we go through this scream and shuttle every year. If he were smart and had an accountant to do this sort of crap for him, he and everyone else would be a damned sight better off.
