Panel 1: We start things off with Elly removing a drawer-full of receipts, forms and bills from a filing-cabinet.
Panel 2: She takes it to the kitchen table. As she does so, John looks at her in something that can be best described as pants-wetting terror.
Panel 3: Since he regards doing his taxes in much the same light as Elly does having icky, scary sex, he tells her "Not tonight, dear. I have a headache."
Summary: It's not just the prospect of paying taxes in the first place that annoy, confuse and horrify John. It's the presence of a wife who needs to take her shoes off to count past ten and small children who mess things up.
